A Big Day at the IJRA Barrel Racing Clinic with Sherrylynn Johnson

On April 17, 2025, the Indiana Junior Rodeo Association hosted an unforgettable Barrel Racing Clinic at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville, Indiana — and Dale Rosa Equine was proud to be part of it!

The clinic was led by none other than Sherrylynn Johnson, a 4X NFR qualifier, Cowgirl Tuff Team Rider, and seasoned rodeo legend who’s known for her electric energy, championship mindset, and passion for teaching the next generation of cowgirls.

🤠 First-Time Clinic Rider: Brooklyn Bates

We’re thrilled to introduce Brooklyn Bates, a new Dale Rosa Equine student, who attended her very first clinic — and absolutely crushed it! Brooklyn borrowed our solid mare Dixie, who helped guide her through the ropes as she learned the fundamentals of speed, control, and timing around the barrels.

Not only did Brooklyn have a blast — she left the clinic totally inspired and already fired up for her next ride. 💥

🐎 About the Experience

The clinic focused on mechanics, mindset, and building a solid foundation for future racers. With Sherrylynn’s expert guidance and encouragement, Brooklyn — along with a group of eager young riders — got hands-on instruction from one of the best in the business. The clinic welcomed beginners and advanced riders alike, making it an inclusive, empowering day for everyone involved.

🐴 Dixie: The Steady Partner

Our mare Dixie did what she does best — offering patience, consistency, and a smooth ride for Brooklyn to build trust and try something new. Dixie’s calm but responsive nature made her the perfect partner for a first-time clinic rider. She’s a true teacher in her own right!
