OUR STORY

In August of 2018, the Widick family acquired the property formerly known as Blue Lake Stables, located in the historic Blue Lake Coal Mine area just south of I-74 in Vermilion County, Illinois. What began as a facility with potential became the foundation for a growing equine program centered on education, safety, and purpose.

 

​In 2020, the importance of acting on long-held goals became clear. After receiving consistent inquiries about lessons and instruction, the decision was made to open the barn to its first students in June of 2021. Since that time, the program has grown steadily through word of mouth, student progress, and a shared commitment to quality horsemanship.​Daniel and Whitney Widick, along with their three daughters, are proud to welcome students, training clients, and boarders into a positive, educational, and passionate equine environment.

 

The program is designed to help riders build confidence, strength, flexibility, and skill through thoughtful instruction and hands-on learning. Whether individuals are pursuing competitive goals or seeking a place to step away from the daily grind, the Widick family looks forward to partnering with each rider and supporting their journey.They are excited to welcome new faces to the barn and the community it continues to build.
